The Fiery Gizzard Trail, which is part of a State Park System, has part of it very near Monteagle, Tennessee. I was on a painting trip and we decided to hike a little to take photos. The paths were narrow and sometimes a little steep, so no painting supplies along on this hike! I took many photographs of the stream and all the cascades, rocks and trees. This is the first painting from that park, and I have done several since then. Every time I look at this I can feel the coolness in the air coming from the deep shade and the water. It always makes me want to take off my shoes and wade in the water. The painting won 2nd Best in Show at the First National Show held at the Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association / Southern Appalachian Artist Guild in 2007.
