Southeastern Pastel Society - Paint N' Grow for May, 2022

This blog post is one designed for helping the Southeastern Pastel Society by working for one month with any of the members on our private Facebook page. But anyone is welcome to read my blog and to look at the PDF documents I give links for.

I had to decide what I wanted to teach and talk about.

I decided "for me to be me!" I want to teach you to be you!

Because I am a writer as well as an artist, I am posting this on my website as a blog post. I had the possibility of using a site called Medium where I write articles... or the Newsletter here on FASO, or Patreon where I do post a couple of times a month art lessons or blog-type thoughts. I also could have resurrected my old blog which is on blogspot. It is still there for anyone that wants to go read.

As an artist, I started teaching lessons weekly, and then workshops. Life goes on and I learned more by teaching private lessons, and over several years, becoming a mentor to a few artists. I have a "real" love for helping artists find their true self through creating art that means something to them.

With 50 years, I have created many pieces of artwork, and sold a number of them. As an artist we learn to market our work, enter competitions and shows. These keep us striving to raise the level of our art. By doing so, I have been in many different galleries and invitational shows. I have won awards which helped to gain a few signature memberships, and the Masters Circle at the International Association of Pastel Societies.

This is one reason I've been asked to be one of the first four artists to take a month and help the members of our wonderful Southeastern Pastel Society. I have created three separate weekly posts to get across some of the more important lessons I have learned in my journey as an artist! Hopefully we will have a Zoom Question & Answer session for the last week.

There are two links (PDF documents) for you to click. One is an introduction with three images, along with a little background into what I am learning about myself as an artist. The second document below is the "first" lesson and ideas for you to ponder. Hopefully you will learn more about yourself and what you like. I want you to learn who you want to be.

#1 ... Introduction! Who I am and want to be! - https://userfiles.faso.us/31497/16456.pdf

#2 ... Being An Artist! It's the Journey, Not the Destination.

Week #1 Lesson - Loving the Process! - https://userfiles.faso.us/31497/16458.pdf

These thoughts are an accumulation of ideas and topics I keep coming back to when in my "thinking mode!"

Be sure to comment on them!
