What Makes You Happy?
I have been writing a lot over the past year... hopefully for a good reason. Here is a part of the beginning of my writing! I would love to hear your thoughts!
"If I asked you what makes you happy, or what makes you smile, what would your answer be? Is there a recurring theme to those happy times? Is there a time in your life where it seemed easier. If so, what were you doing? Can you identify the elements of that happiness? Are you still there? Maybe you are, and if so... fantastic. Keep going at it from this perspective. We are never guaranteed anything in life, but to die at some point. You get to be the master of your universe... your life! You cannot change anyone but you. And, that really is a good thing, right? We love others with all their good parts and their maybe not so good. We learn to accept not everyone or everything is perfect. Wouldn’t that be rather boring?
If you could do anything in life, what would that be? Dream big! But, also be reasonable. Would it be something that
if you worked hard, found the right circumstances, or even the way to finance it, is within your ability to make happen? You do have to be cognizant of your own abilities in these matters... thinking about what it will do to your life to make sacrifices in some areas to attain your lifelong dream. There is nothing wrong with this... but make sure you bring your family and friends along also."
The painting shown here is something that makes me happy! And being with my family makes me happy too! Remember, we are not required to just choose "one" thing!

This painting is "The Falls Rumble" and is a 16" x 12" oil painting I did while demonstrating at my gallery in Blue Ridge, GA... High Country Art! If you are in North Georgia and have time, be sure to visit this wonderful gallery, and the Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association (I have a few pieces of art there also).
I hope you balance what you are passionate about, with the other parts of your life. Those other parts are what informs the artwork for me, which is my passion. Fill the "well" with fun times, like visiting with family and friends, going on trips with my husband or girl trips, playing in the garden, tennis, yoga, listening to the music I love, etc. These things are what help me when I am painting... the happiness that is in the other part of my life bleeds over into the actual process of playing with my art supplies!
What about you?
These thoughts are an accumulation of ideas and topics I keep coming back to when in my "thinking mode!"
Be sure to comment on them!
