Learning New Marketing Ideas

Art books and a few small studies!
I have not written a blog post since October .. I think! I will be trying to do so at least monthly. I have things I would like to talk about, and it is one way to get my thoughts together about whatever I am dealing with. Maybe the blog is a better place to talk about marketing strategies, and of course it is a wonderful place to talk about my process. I think I have been using posts on Facebook in place of writing a blog post. Hmmm... I just now realized that is most likely true!
So what about newsletters? I have written a newsletter more often than doing the blog in the last few years. I'm trying to think about what needs to go in which place... what in a blog post, and what in a newsletter! The newsletter is what people sign up for and mostly I think it is for marketing purposes.
I subscribe to many different newsletters and enjoy some of them, and others I rarely read. I will at some point unsubscribe from those. I don't want my newsletter ... or my blog post ... to be something boring or not of interest.
I'm telling you this because I do send a newsletter every now and then. I try to send one per month, but it depends on whether I have something planned you might want to know about. Usually it's when I have finished a few new pieces of art and they are going to a show or a gallery. Or, it could be if I plan a workshop or trip to paint... I think my followers might be interested.
I write articles on a site called "Medium." I also read quite a lot of articles written by other people. Many of those articles are about marketing, or about self-improvement, and also about learning how to write!
A recent one pointed me in the direction of a website called "Gumroad." I have actually bought some art videos from this site, so I know only about that much!
I found it quite interesting and so I thought about doing a blog post to see who has experience in using that site. It is a place to sell whatever a person is doing... with a few exceptions they immediately have listed. A general look shows most are selling courses to learn something. They may be selling lessons or books. Again... it did peak my interest because I teach art students, and I write articles about doing art. I am thinking I should create lessons that can be purchased easily for one theory in art at a time.
I have been through several of their help menus and read many topics about starting on Gumroad. Several of those have been about how to create a following on their site. Okay... enough for now I think. I need help!
This has been a thinking and writing it down blog post... stream of conscious gibberish maybe!
So ... I am going to post this and ask for advice. Who has used Gumroad? If so, what has been your experience?
I hope all the above made at least a little sense. Let me know what you think.
Have a wonderful weekend, stay warm and well ... and be positive!
These thoughts are an accumulation of ideas and topics I keep coming back to when in my "thinking mode!"
Be sure to comment on them!
