"Old Soul" is a pastel on Ampersand Pastelbord which is a sanded surface and almost the only pastel surface I will use. It was done plein air at the Mercier Orchard near Blue Ridge, GA. I was there painting during the Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association plein air event (plein air means working from life on location). It was the last one of the day and the one I love the most from the event. Sometimes we have one that just seems to work, and I know it is because I did not "labor the point" of what I was looking at!
