This painting is from a photo I took in North Carolina during a trip to teach a pastel workshop. My hostess and I visited this little river to paint and photograph. What a beautiful area not far from Cashiers NC. I always enjoy seeing a small little oasis in the middle of a shallow portion of a creek or river where flowers grow right in the middle! The Joe Pye Weed (the purple flower) is always intriguing, and to have it paired with the yellow goldenrod, was perfect... opposite colors on the color wheel! What fun!
