"Guitar Man" is a pastel, done from several photographs that I took during a low country boil on Creighton Island, GA. He played the guitar for us and sang a few songs. We did a kayak trip around the island during the late afternoon and into the evening. It was a beautiful day, and we started our trip at about 4:00 pm with the incoming tide. I made it around the island beating the marsh grasses and getting stuck sometimes, worrying about whether I would see an alligator... yikes... but never did. That does not mean they weren't in the area! We did make it back to the dock against the tide, and during the dark and rain around 9-9:30 pm. It was around five hours of hard work with those oars! It was a tough go, but I made it. Painting this brought back all the sounds, smells, and memories like it was just last week.
